Are All Things Connected?

Well, yes. If you think about it, humans are connected to trees, since we're both living, and that means that we're also connected to paper, which is just weird. Everything that we do affects things around us. That trash that you just threw on the ground? It was either picked up by some nice guy and thrown away properly or eaten by an animal. Then, the animal would probably get sick, and die. So the scavengers would eat the dead animal. Or it would just rot. But what if that animal was one of the endangered species? Then that wouldn't be good. We'd have less and less of those until they're all gone. My point is that because everything is connected, the small things you do can become really big in the long run.

Reflection on My First Semester :D

Well, this semester was pretty good I guess. I think I did pretty well, except for my second quarter, I slacked of just a little.

There really isn't much that I would change about this class, and I think it's fine the way it is. Though I find the Holt Reader really annoying sometimes, I know it's important for critical reading skills. The stories in there are interesting though, and I enjoy reading them a lot. One of the only things I would like changed is that we could have more Literature Circles instead of just one for each semester.

I know I have a lot of room for improvement, and I think one of my biggest problems are reading comprehension and vocabulary. Though I enjoy reading, I tend to read too fast and miss out on some of the smaller details. My vocabulary is limited, and in some stories, I guess about 30% of the words using context clues, or just skip them.

For the next semester I would be aiming for A+'s in both quarters, and improving my vocabulary and reading comprehension. Of course, I would keep on writing my blog daily. :)

Can where you are change who you are?

I think that where you are can change who you are. For example, if you've lived in a place where everyone is carefree and happy, then you suddenly move to this really busy place where everyone is competing, well then, you'd be different. It's not like you're gonna become a total workaholic or someone totally different, but I guess you'll just be a bit different, like instead of still being that carefree person, you'll start to work harder in life.

If you've lived in Canada your entire life, then for some reason, you move to Brazil, it'll change a lot for you. The food, the language, the clothing, and just about everything will be different. Different cultures and different lifestyles can really change someone.

Homeless in Cars

After watching this video, I honestly felt really really bad for these people, especially the kids. They seem to be no much older than me, and I just can't imagine living out in a car or a truck. It's hard. What I really respect and look upon the fact that these children, even though they're living in cars and trucks, are still so optimistic and happy.

But luckily, people are raising money and helping people that are homeless. Even so, unemployment is increasing, especially in Florida, as one third of homeless people live there.

These people are worried about their safety, food, and money. One family started eating only two meals a day because they ran out of money. At night, the dad of the family went outside and sat on a cooler all night, just watching over his wife and kids. Some of the kids would stay up all night to watch over their parents. They were scared that something bad would happen to their families. And people were robbed, because you couldn't always find a good neighborhood to stay in. You really learn to appreciate the things that you have, as a girl puts it, "because one day, you might not have it."
